Eulogy for Mr Murugiah

From Mr Murugapoopathy and Nadesan

It is both an honour and a privilege to stand here today to celebrate my dear friend and accountant, Mr Murugiah, and to share a brief, adapted reflection inspired by the eulogy delivered by our mutual friend, Mr Murugapoopathy.

Mr Murugapoopathy once spoke of lives that leave a mark—not only in memory, but in the very fabric of our daily lives. In that spirit, I can say with certainty that Mr Murugiah has touched many of our lives, not merely metaphorically, but in a deeply practical and personal way. Through his work, counsel, and quiet integrity, he has been present in our decisions, struggles, and successes.

Our time in this world is brief. Most pass through it with limited impact, but a rare few enrich others’ lives in meaningful and lasting ways. Mr Murugiah belongs to that rare group. His contributions extend beyond his profession; they reflect a generosity of spirit, a commitment to community, and an unwavering sense of responsibility.

Since 1988, Mr Murugiah has worked with the Ceylon Student Education Fund as president, committee member and well-wisher. In 2023, he helped us support Tamil students in the Jaffna district. He also volunteered with many Tamil organisations in Melbourne.

Today, we go beyond simple acknowledgment to celebrate him. We honour a life that has enriched others, a presence that has provided clarity and comfort, and a friendship that has lasted with warmth and genuine sincerity.

My sympathy goes to his children and grandchildren
